Effective August 29, 2025, the United States will eliminate the current de minimis exemption, which allows shipments valued under $800 to enter without duties or taxes.
As a result, all international shipments—whether by courier or postal service—will now require a formal customs entry. While carriers and postal services are updating their procedures to comply, there may be temporary delays or additional checks as the new rules take effect.
