Drostanolone propionate (trade name Masteron) is an anabolic/androgenic steroid which is the propionate ester of drostanolone. It is known to be androgenic and anabolic. It is incapable of aromatization and has similar properties to dihydrotestosterone. It has been successfully used as a breast cancer drug, but because of the high risk of virilization, safer options are prescribed​

Masteron is undoubtedly one of the most popular bodybuilding steroids of all time; when we look at contest preparation this can be seen very easily but as we’ll shortly see it doesn’t have a lot of use for packing on size. Further, like many anabolic steroids, there is a strong medical purpose outside of performance enhancement but again, the purpose of Masteron in the medical field is a good bit different than most other anabolic steroids.

Drostanolone propionate is used primarily by athletes who need to retain strength while losing mass. It is beneficial to runners and athletes who must remain in a certain weight class.
Drostanolone propionate can increase muscle hardness and density, giving an individual a more complete appearance when competing on stage.

Drostanolone propionate can promote increased strength while keeping body fat the same or even lowering it and can help to prevent muscle loss while dieting. This can also allow strength athletes or those athletes in sports which have weight classes to increase performance without the risk of being raised into a higher weight class or add mass that may hinder performance

The average weekly dosage for male athletes is 300-400 mg per week,
with experienced bodybuilders using up to 500-600 mg weekly.
The mild side effects of Masteron allow to take dosages as high as 1000 mg per week, but such dosages are not really necessary.

Masteron can be used as the sole injectable: in this case, I prefer to see dosing of 500-700 mg/week. A Masteron/Dianabol stack is more effective, however, as is a Masteron/Anadrol stack. Testosterone also combines well with Masteron.

Another use of Masteron which has become more common lately is combination with trenbolone. Unlike in combination with Dianabol or Anadrol, there is only an additive effect, not a synergistic effect. However, including Masteron allows a lower trenbolone dosage while achieving very similar or equal physique benefits with less potential for trenbolone-specific side effects of night-sweats, increased tendency to aggression, and/or insomnia.

Masteron also is useful in combination with testosterone for self-prescribed hormone-replacement therapy (HRT.) For example, 100 mg/week each of Masteron and testosterone can be superior for physique benefits to 200 mg/week testosterone alone, while being milder in side effects due to lower resulting levels of estradiol (estrogen) and DHT.
